Gaming to Connect: Resilient Young People @ Mundaring Wellness Centre with Graeme Jarred and Charles Snelleksz-Mathelot
Sun 24th January 2021 ~ 3.30pm to 5.30pm | Free

Calling All Gamers – Gaming to Connect, is a fun workshop for parents and their children. In supporting parents to remember what it feels like to be a young person and how important it is to have fun with their children, our aim, is that parents will find fun ways through which they can connect with their children and maintain healthy connected relationships. While the workshop’s main directive is to address youth resilience, our focus is directed toward the parents because research has shown that when parents take a meaningful interest in the lives of their children, young people are more likely to be resilient.

Graeme Jarred (M.SW) has worked in the community and youth sectors for more than 30 years. He has coordinated teams to assist youth in the community through the Seen and Heard Programme (Mundaring Shire) and the Reconnect Homeless Prevention Programme. Graeme works as a private consultant, providing counselling for adolescents and their families, and maintaining a strong interest in community development.

Charles Snelleksz-Mathelot is trained in Narrative and Transpersonal therapies and Youth Advocacy. He has worked in the youth and domestic violence sectors for over 20 years and has contributed to Government interdepartmental policy writing in regards to young people experiencing homelessness and their access to safe housing and young people experiencing mental health and their access to safe housing. In his last position as Executive Officer of Perth Inner City Youth Service, Charles coordinated the development and implementation of the nutrition programme, Green Out and the community connect programme, Heart Beat (a percussion programme).
